Mid Cobber Rear Bike Light
Lumens are a measure of the total amount of visible light from a light source. The higher the lumen rating the “brighter” the light will appear. Lux is a similar method to measure light across a surface area that is often used in European markets.
The Mid Cobber Rear Bike Lights produces an incredible 330° of light, so you’ll be clearly seen from behind as well as from both sides. It’s brilliantly effective at attracting attention day and night, making it one of the safest you could choose.

I’m from Germany and often ride in the Alps, where the weather can change quickly. I really liked the design and brightness of my Knog Cobber Medium, but unfortunately it’s not waterproof or even splash-proof.
After just a few months of normal use, moisture entered the housing and condensed on the light’s internal circuit board. The very delicate on/off switch, which sits directly on that board, started failing — most likely due to corrosion and dirt being sprayed onto the rear light. Once that happened, the Cobber could no longer be turned on or off reliably.
It’s a great concept with excellent visibility and mounting, but it clearly needs better sealing of the housing and a more durable switch to withstand real-world riding conditions — especially in wet and muddy Alpine weather. (I miss Australia ;-)
Can’t say enough good things about this light. Been using it regularly for over two years and not a single issue. The throw this thing has is insane, the light practically surrounds your rear wheel. At night I like the flow from side to side function. It really catches the eye, and makes you stand out from a typical stagnate blink, which is huge for being seen when it’s dark. If I’m running it as a daytime light the normal blink is best in my opinion, and does that just as well as any other light out there, again with the added degrees of visibility.
I was skeptical of the charging situation at first, especially when it got covered in mud or road grime, but it recharges no problem. I love how simple it is to take on/off with just a quick hit up and it pops off, and the mount is so small it’s invisible when riding without the light. I hope Knog doesn’t ruin a good thing. This is truly the most unique rear light on the market, and by far the best. Knog really broke my heart when they killed off the PWR, I sure hope the Cobber doesn’t end up with a similar fate.
I would love to give these lights a better rating but after years of commuting use and many replacements I can’t continue to use Knog lights. They are beautifully designed and provide the best visibility but almost like clockwork each light has died around 1 1/2 years of use which for a nearly $100 light is not acceptable. Knog has always stepped up on the warranty but still for the price I would expect more.
Simply The best tail light I’ve used!
This is the third mid cobber rear bike light that I have gotten. It is bright enough to be seen during the day. And I often get compliments while I am out riding in vents such as Bike MS or the Triple Bypass.
