Scout Bike Alarm & Finder
Decibels (dB) are used for measuring the relative loudness of sounds. Our bells and alarms are 80 & 85 dB respectively, which together with their tone, cuts through the noisiest of environments, while remaining below a harmful dB level.
We understand that your bike is a prized possession and leaving it unattended, even when secured, can be risky. Scout provides unparalleled bike security by combining both an extremely loud 85db bike alarm function with a highly accurate bike finder, using Apple’s ‘Find My’ app. The future of bike security is here.

Once armed, any movement of a Scout fitted Bike will trigger the motion-sensitive audio alarm discouraging any further movement and alerting the bike’s owner, both by the sound of the alarm and via a notification that is automatically sent to the owner’s iPhone (when in Bluetooth range).
Then in a scenario where a bike fitted with Scout is not where the owner has left it, it can be quickly located using Apple’s network via the ‘Find My’ app.

This is a great concept. As a Brompton owner, even with its convenient folding mechanism that allows me to bring it almost anywhere, there are situations where I need to be away from my bicycle for a very brief duration, say, when browsing a small shop. And locking up the bike will take far too long.
This is where the Scout comes in.
I just leave my bicycle in a nearby corner, activate the alarm, and carry on with business nearby. It gives me a peace of mind when I'm performing daily errands.
If I need to be away for longer periods for say, a nearby gym session, I can use both alarm and lock together, acting as an effective deterrence to all but the most determined thieves. Most gyms in my areas don't allow bicycles indoors.
What this alarms enables me to do with my folding bicycle, it's plenty. The Brompton allows me to carry the bicycle almost anywhere, while this alarm allows me to leave the Brompton nearby while I carry on with daily life without worry. it's a killer combo.
But there are also several shortcomings.
1) The Brompton does not come with a bottle mount. so I needed to purchase an adapter to hold the alarm, and even with the adapter and spacers, the anti-tamper screws are still too long. I had to use my own screws instead. Would be nice if there is a better way to mount to my Brompton.
2) Clunky app UI.
I hope to see a solution that caters to Bromptons!
It’s good but it would be great if they had a widget for the Home Screen in iOS
Scout Bike Alarm & Finder
The Knog Scout is a great device. I keep my bike locked if I leave it while out for a ride but want to know if anyone tampers with it. It’s been reliable over a few years now. I like how a USB C plug can be used to charge the Scout when installed under my bottle cage. 5 stars.
The button seems a bit iffy when disarming but otherwise it works really well. The issue comes with charging. The battery life is terrible, especially considering that I haven’t found a USBC battery that will stay connected to charge it. If you don’t have access to a plug where you store your bike, you’ll have to uninstall the alarm to charge it then reinstall it, which is a quick process but tedious considering how often it has to be charged.
